whast the point on going online if ya cant speak today i was in a ranken lobby having a big conv about rap then they host started i got put on a team of 3 idiots that dont speak on there mics i was so bored and after each round i could hav e a 9 secound conv

People don't use them becuase they are tired of ignorant idiots talking about how cool they are, or 12 year old kids with squeaky voices yelling profanity.Maybe if half the online community wasn't retarded then more people would use a mic.I usually try, but it seems within 5 minutes i lose hope in humanity trying to converse with these people. maybe the people on your team don't like rap, or maybe they dont have headsets.  You can't expect everyone to do things on xbox live to make you happy.  Get over it.
I only use it with friends. I have no need to talk with people i don't know or care about.

[/QUOTE]Yes it's anoying when people don't use headsets in team based games when the other team is communicating nicely.  But it's also annoying when people talk about things that are completely unrelated to the game and they try to act gangsta. 
most of them do have headsets but...some are in private chatsome times their mikes are brokenand sometimes they mute evryone,because of little kids.
I agree with Sharvie.  I use a mic with friends only.  Most of the other people on Live are just annoying.
If I don't use a headset in a match, it is because I am in private chat because my teamates aren't great to talk to/don't talk at all.
Yeah, it's because people talk about crap I don't care about (like rap), or act ignorant, or can't seem to string together an actual sentence of English that I never use a headset on Live. Yeah, it sucks now and then when team play would rely on communication, but half the time when you have something helpful/intelligent to say, nobody listens anyway. Too many people trying to sound cool, too. Rap's dead.  What's with everyone trying to sound like they're from Detroit or L.A? No offense to people who really are from there, but you know what I mean. I'm glad the headset's optional.
I only use headsets when playing with friends or when in a game that simply requires one for the full experience (Gears). I don't use one with everything else. Like CnC3, I haven't used it yet. No point in doing that. Except when in a 2 on 2.
I almost never use mine, unless I'm playing with friends. I don't care what random people think about stuff, and i don't need their strats =P
Then don't hangout with people who don't use the headset. I personally don't use one because there is not point communicating if that person is going to trash talk back at you. I don't go around XBL trash talking, I just want some decent fun. I will use my headset if the people are coopertive and friendly, but if not I just don't bother with talking.
I try to use mine with sensable people.I was playing last night and all I could hear was a bunch of little kids saying racist slurs and acting hard on Saint's Row...And one was TKing me like mad and I told him the point of the game is to shoot the other people, then he said ''The point of the game is for you to suck my D word.'', I immediately went to report due to the racial slurs but then apparently his older brother came on and he was playing fair, so I regreted the report. But it surely pisses me off when the little pricks come on.

Well if I was stuck in a convo about rap I'd probably mute everyone out too...However, some people dont' feel the need to talk to strangers, that's their preferance, to say they're useless would be a bland statement on something completely untrue.  It's a game, as long as they're playing, and the non communication isn't a huge detriment on the gaming, then they're fufulling their role as players, not talkers about whats your favorite kind of rap.

I use a mic, I don't want to make conversation with most people on there, I usually just use it for the game ''two guys in the bunker''
i go on xbox live to play games, not socialize.
