I was thinking about getting mine modded, but after seeing the other topic theres no way. Im just curious how does Microsoft even know that a console has been modded.How does Microsoft know if your console ...
I have no idea why people would want to mod the console, just experience it the way the people that designed it want you too. Its modders and exploiters online that ruin the games for the rest of us. Who knows how they know? The point is that they do and the ones who deserve it are left with a semi-useless 360.How does Microsoft know if your console ...

Some modders do so to gain the freedom to use the power of their console to explore even more possibilities than playing Glitches Of War. Don't be so quick to judge what other people do. Exploiters may ruin the online experience, but people who pass judgement and speak without knowledge ruin the offline experience.

A console is made to be played how it was and if Modders start using it for other uses Microsoft CAN get sued for it.
Microsoft definitely has the technology to tell if your system is modded. If anyone has used a pirated copy of Windows XP, then you've experienced how they can tell. if you are planning on downloading any newer versions of IE or other Microsoft programs, they tend to be running a ''Windows Authentication Check'' on your system to see whether or not you're using a pirated program. If the Authentication Scan picks up a fake, then you won't be allowed to download that program until you send them a check, to pay for XP, or until you install Windows with a non-pirated disc, with a unique access code.And if you consider that you can link your Windows account to your 360, It's completely possible that they can run that check. Think of all of the ''New Updates'' that are needed when we sign on to Live...you know how they say, ''you will not be able to use your XBox Live account unless you accept and download this update'', well we never know what they're making us download, so they could be using that time to run the checks...Long story short, it's VERY possible, and very easy for them to do it. just don't bother modding it, it's pointless...and a waste of money.

[/QUOTE]Whether they pirate or not is irrelevant, since accessing XBL with a modded console is against the TOS. There's no defense for that.Most people who mod their consoles do it to pirate and to cheat. I don't know why you would defend them. Agreed, some do it as a way to understand the technology, but to say it is ''their'' console is a misnomer. They own the console, not the technology, and to change it in any way is improper based upon the license they agree to by using it. That's why mod chip manufacturers get sued out of business. What they do violates patent and intellectual property law. If ''explore more possibilities'' has anything to do with commercial games then it is a clear violation, regardless of intent.
Its so easy itr ain't even funny. You know how with just a small file you can find out your ROM drives make, model, write speed and most of all firmware. Well all MS has to do is add that small file in there Spring Update and boom the moment you log on everything about your consoles ROM drive is reported back to MS. All they have to do if flag all foreign firmwares and done. Everyone with a modded Xbox is banned. But there's a way to get past that, all you need is a firmware that can be shut off on demand, aka a Mod Chip thats soldered onto the mother board that can be turned on and off at will. Simply turn the Mod Chip off when playing anything online and MS will never be able to find out because they can't find whats not there. IF you're gonna do a mod only do hard mods never go for easy firmware changes.
modding = bad

When you mod your Xbox you then have to send Microsoft a postcard and tell them you have modded your Xbox so that they can ban your console.
